HYPERHIDROSIS

During the summer we sweat more due to high temperatures, to decrease body heat through perspiration. The problem occurs when the sweating becomes excessive and not according to the temperature. It is what is known as hyperhidrosis.

Its exact cause is unknown, but it has been shown that in patients who suffer from it there is an excess in the system signal that regulates sweating (autonomic sympathetic nervous system), as well as a greater sensitivity of the sweat glands to said stimulus.

The application of botulinum toxin or botox has shown utility in hyperhidrosis of the armpits and palms. Its mechanism of action consists in blocking the nerve transmission in the neuromuscular junction, stopping the production of sweat between the second and fourth day after the infiltration.
